Q: How excited are you to see the renovation project finally coming to fruition?

A: We are all very excited to be bringing the Crowne Plaza brand to Fiji. The property is incredible and the Fijian hospitality is reflected in the staff who go above and beyond to make our guests stay an exceptional experience.

Our latest restaurant, La Bottega, opened last month, taking traditional Italian influences and putting a modern twist on the menu items with Fijian infusions. It also has an extensive wine list so you’re sure to find a bottle suited to your taste palate.

We also have Latitude Bar and Lounge for drinks and nibbles, 17.78 a dedicated whiskey bar, Harvest and Azura Pool Bar and kitchen showing the breadth of our dining options.

When it opens next month I also think Urban Sugar will be a hit with guests – it’s Fiji’s first ever Beach Club with DJs, good food and incredible sunset views over Wailoaloa Bay.

Q: What kind of experience will guests have at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa?

A: Aside from offering a world-class resort for leisure, dining and business travel, we want guests to have a genuine Fijian experience full of warmth, happiness and incredible service.

Q: In a crowded market such as Fiji, how does your property stay ahead of your competitors?

A: I think what sets us apart is not only are we a leading resort but also the perfect destination for families, leisure and business travellers.

We will be able to offer 324 rooms including oceanfront suites, suites with direct access to the pool and family friendly two bedroom suites.

We have excellent restaurants with a variety of cuisines and an atmosphere to suit your mood. Plus, we are located on Wailoaloa Beach, so guests can easily walk to the beach to capture a beautiful sunset or a dip in the ocean if they want a change of scenery from the pools.

If you’re a business traveller or looking for an event space, we have multiple options that can cater to staff meetings, events, conferences or after work dinner and drinks.

Following the completion of our renovations we will have a state of the art Convention Centre that can accommodate 900 guests and our ballroom will be perfect for wedding receptions and will be ready to prebook from February 2025.

Being in such close proximity to the airport means our guests can be relaxing by the pool or on the beach with a cocktail in hand within 30 minutes of exiting the airport. And then extend their time relaxing in Fiji before heading home.

Q: Why do you think Fiji remains such a popular destination for Australians?

A: The short flight time from Australia makes Fiji a very popular destination with Australians. The direct flights from most of the major cities means less time on a plane and more time relaxing.

Fiji is also a great family destination; there are lots of activities for families to do together and Fijians love kids so parents can also take time for themselves to reconnect.

Q: As you say, family or generational travel seems to be very popular these days. How does your hotel cater for these booming markets?

A: We currently have eight restaurants and dining options for families to choose from and will have 10 from the end of this year so there is something for everyone.

There are also dedicated family and kids’ pools and the two-bedroom family rooms are great for families with older kids that like to have their own space.

Q: What other experiences are available to enjoy at the hotel?

A: The resort’s Mareqeti Spa offers a range of indulgent facials and massage treatments including the traditional Fijian Bobo Massage.

Q: Where are some of the places in Fiji that you like to visit when not working?

A: Out of town, I really enjoy spending time at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa at Natadola. It’s a fantastic place to unwind. Another favourite of mine is the Grand Pacific Hotel in Fiji’s capital.
