Audio of the moment Etihad Airways flight EY461 rejected its takeoff at Melbourne Airport last night.

The transmission from LiveATC.net features a member of the cockpit crew onboard the Boeing 787 telling controllers “we may have a problem.”

Moments later fire trucks are on the scene, with “hot gear” or hot breaks needing to be cooled down.

And, it’s no wonder the breaks were hot, with the aircraft likely travelling at more than 250kph when it pulled out off the takeoff.

The Etihad Boeing 787 remains on the runway this morning and investigations into the incident are underway.

Journalist Jacqueline Felgate captured video of the incident unfolding and shared it on social media.
