Get ready to sparkle, Virgin Australia’s Pride Flight is back and just as fabulous as ever. On 28 February, Sky-High Disco flights will take off for Sydney from Melbourne and Brisbane, setting the stage for an unforgettable start to Australia’s biggest LGBTQIA+ weekend.

An Experience Like No Other

Guests will kick off the festivities at the departure gates in Melbourne and Sydney, where they’ll be treated to:

  • DJ sets and drag performances
  • NYX Professional Makeup glam stations
  • Drinks from Dolly Parton, Brookvale Union, Archie Rose and Sundaylicious
  • Themed photo opps

In-flight Celebrations

The Pride Flight party will shift into another gear after takeoff. Once in the sky, guests can expect entertainment at 38,000 feet, giveaways from NYX Professional Makeup (courtesy of Chemist Warehouse), and non-stop disco beats to keep the vibes high.

Landing Party

After touching down in Sydney, the celebrations continue. Pride Flight guests can ride the DiDi Disco Bus to the official Pride Flight Landing Party at The Beresford in Sydney’s Surry Hills, where there will be a best-dressed competition, special guests and more surprises, plus drinks from Brookvale Union, Accolade Wines and Absolut.

Ovolo Hotels Pride Flight Recovery Brunch

On the following day, Sunday 1 March, both guests and the general public will be able to start their day in style at the Pride Flight Recovery Brunch at Ovolo Woolloomooloo, complete with delicious brunch bites, bubbles and drag performance. Tickets are on sale now from https://ovolohotels.com/ovolo/woolloomooloo/ovolo-virginrecovery-brunch/.

More Than Just a Flight – A Celebration of Inclusion

Virgin Australia is proud to crew all Pride Flight services with LGBTQIA+ crew and allies. In tribute to key moments in LGBTQIA+ history, each flight has a special number:

  • VA1978 Melbourne > Sydney: In 1978 Sydney hosted its first Mardi Gras Parade.
  • VA2017 Brisbane > Sydney: 2017 marked the year same-sex marriage was legalised in Australia.

Virgin Australia Executive, Lisa Burquest, said: “Pride Flight is more than just a flight – it’s a celebration of diversity and inclusion. We’re incredibly proud to bring people together in such a spectacular way and make this a standout event on our annual calendar for our teams and guests.”

Supporting LGBTQIA+ Futures

Virgin Australia is proud to announce its new multi-year gold partnership with The Pinnacle Foundation, Australia’s LGBTQIA+ education charity. Pride Flight ticket sales directly contribute to this important cause.

Pinnacle Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Staite said: “We are so proud to be working with Virgin Australia, who will be donating a portion of ticket sales from Pride Flight to support hundreds of LGBTQIA+ Australians. Support like Virgin Australia’s is essential, as it allows us to continue providing our community with the much-needed opportunity to realise their full potential and overcome challenges.

“From 2026-2028, Pride Flight proceeds will directly support the Virgin Australia Scholarship, which will be awarded to a Pinnacle Scholar who is studying from a broad range of fields relevant to aviation and tourism.”
