Travellers Choice is hoping one of Australia’s most revered adventurers will give its members a competitive edge by helping them embrace the “explorer mindset” during its 2024 Conference.

Dual Guinness World Record-holder James ‘Cas’ Castrission knows what it’s like to push the boundaries of human endurance.

In 2012, he and his friend Justin Jones made history by completing the longest unsupported polar expedition of all time – trekking for 89 days from the edge of Antarctica to the South Pole and back without assistance. Four years earlier, the pair braved 10 metre swells, howling winds and adverse currents to paddle 3,318km unassisted across the Tasman Sea in the longest ever transoceanic double kayak expedition.

Through his company MyAdventure Group, Castrission now helps business operators understand what makes people capable of achieving the extraordinary and how to push their own limits.

It’s this ‘explorer’s mindset’ he will unveil to Travellers Choice in Sydney in November when he delivers the keynote address – and undertakes an interactive workshop – during the 2024 Conference.

Themed ‘Travelution’, this year’s event – which takes place from 1-3 November at the Hilton Sydney – will feature networking sessions, panel discussions, a Preferred Supplier Exhibition, and the Travellers Choice National Awards Gala Dinner.

Managing Director Chrisitan Hunter says the conference program and theme reflect the fact that Travellers Choice is never satisfied with the status quo.

“Travellers Choice has always been revolutionary when it comes to supporting independent travel businesses,” says Hunter.

“As members will see, that process of continual evolution is perpetual, always with one purpose in mind: to ensure we find even better ways to help them reach their goals.

“It’s the reason we are the travel industry’s most-awarded network for independent travel agents.”
