In a demonstration of environmental stewardship, the Tourism Garden team rolled-up their sleeves on 20 September and took part in cleanup activities to remove waste from Mosman’s coastline. The initiative not only made a tangible difference by removing 11 kg of waste but also served as a reminder of the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. World Cleanup Day is an annual global social action program aimed at combating the global waste problem and is now declared an official United Nations Day.
The initiative aligns with Tourism Garden’s clients, Visit Monaco, a leader in sustainable tourism with an ongoing commitment to environmental preservation. The Principality of Monaco leads many projects to raise awareness on the protection of the environment and aims to become carbon neutral by 2050. Similarly, Tokyo and Kyoto are both cities on the same path, making tremendous efforts in destination stewardship environmentally and culturally.
“Every day should be World Cleanup Day, and the 20 September 2024 gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about the global waste crisis” said Alison Roberts-Brown, Director at Tourism Garden. “Our office is located on one of Sydney’s beautiful waterways, and keeping plastic waste out of the water is an everyday task. Every action, no matter how small is not inconsequential and everyone can join in. Our approach towards our clients ensures that tourism development aligns with conservation efforts, ultimately benefiting both the planet and future generations of travellers.”
