I was fortunate to be invited to attend a Los Cabos Virtuoso famil trip with Los Cabos Tourism and Gate 7 to experience Mexico at its finest.
As it was my first time in Mexico, I was excited to see and take in all that this destination has to offer. You hear of the ultra-luxury properties in Los Cabos and the exceptional service, so to get to experience it firsthand was amazing.
Upon arrival and a super short stint through customs, I was greeted by the warmth of the local people and blue skies.
Los Cabos has a lot on offer when it comes to getting out and about – from the history of the towns to the sea and beyond.
Private Sailing Tour – Cabo Adventures
Private sailing tours by Cabo Adventures offer an exclusive and luxurious experience on the waters of Cabo San Lucas.
This was the perfect way for us to enjoy the beauty of the Sea of Cortez aboard a private, luxury sailboat, which is tailored to individual preferences. We snorkelled off the back of the yacht at Santa Maria Bay and soaked in every second of the Mexican dream.
Todos Santos – Incabo Tours
Todos Santos is a charming town located about an hour’s drive north of Cabo San Lucas and is a hidden gem on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula. It’s well known for its artistic vibe, historic architecture and sea views.
On our way we stopped at a blanket factory where we learnt how to handmake Mexican-style blankets. When we arrived we were given a tour of this beautiful little location and our guide gave us great information on the area, full of knowledge and history.
Before heading back we also had lunch at Jazamango, a farm to table restaurant in Todos Santos.
San Jose Del Cabo
This is another beautiful town filled with so much culture, foodie delights and amazing art. Indeed, there is a specific art district which we explored and took in the sights.
We ended up going for dinner at Lumbre, a contemporary Mexican restaurant that serves delicious wood-fired dishes like octopus, grilled chicken, prawns, vegetables, etc.
Where To Stay
Our first hotel was the tranquil Zadun, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve property.
Each villa has its own private pool and the rooms are spacious and have more modern comforts than you could possibly need.
Your own private butler is there to assist you in getting around the resort or you can simply walk along the paths amid the perfectly manicured gardens.
This place has got it all – amazing restaurants, adult pool, family pool, spa facilities and outstanding service.
I was particularly impressed by the culinary experience we had here as the food was presented beautifully. We dined at all three restaurants on offer: Humo, El Barrio and X (Equis).
Each has their own special touches, from authentic South American cuisine at Humo to El Barrio’s Mexican street-food inspired dishes to the seafood focus at X (Equis). The interior and decor of each is next level incredible.
At the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. I was allocated a three-bedroom pool villa and had an amazing experience getting to live the real luxury lifestyle!
The accommodation has got a Mexican flare to it and comes with a full kitchen, washer and dryer (loved this after travelling for more than 10 days in the USA!).
The property also runs a conservation program which is a dedicated initiative focused on protecting and preserving the local endangered sea turtles.
It’s such a wonderful concept and being able to get involved as a visitor is such a great way to learn about the program and helping get the baby turtles to the ocean is such a beautiful experience.
They focus on nest protection and hatching release with educational workshops for guests to experience. It was so lovely to play a small, positive part in their life.
Our last stay in Cabo was at the newly opened Four Seasons Resort and Residence Cabo San Lucas at Cabo Del Sol.
The hotel was built on the inspiration of ‘Pueblo Magico’ which is the country’s official term for a magical town, featuring touches of Mexican art, culture, history, design and authentic charm.
The rooms are spacious and have large bathrooms, and again some ground floor rooms have private pools adding to that extra luxe feel. The resort offers full sea views and in whale season you can spot them travelling past.
Again, the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The hotel uses incredibly fresh and local ingredients to achieve great culinary excellence.
From art lessons to the spa and beach activities, this hotel has it all. It is tasteful and has the Four Seasons style and sophistication that you’d expect – it’s seriously luxe.
You have a beautiful infinity adult pool or a large family pool to lounge around and enjoy the sun. Perfection!
What else to do
We attended a cooking class at Chileno Bay Resort where we learnt to make authentic salsa, guacamole and ceviche. Thanks to them I will now be a pro when hosting some Mexican themed dinners back home!
There is also the amazing Flora Farms, which is a must-do experience for visitors. Set in the heart of a beautiful 10-hectare organic property, it’s a true farm-to-table experience and a great way to learn how to prepare fresh seasonal dishes using ingredients harvested directly from the farm.
For those who want to go out exploring the area in and around the hotels there is also a lot on offer, from sailing, snorkelling, whale watching (season permitting), camel riding, ATV tours and cooking classes.
Or simply just wander through the quaint towns of San Jose Del Cabo or Todos Santos and soak in the local atmosphere and culture that is so beautiful.
