Britain’s national tourism agency, VisitBritain is gearing up to host its first travel trade mission to Australia since 2016. With just a week to go, the countdown is on for Australian travel buyers and agents to register for this exclusive event.

Led by VisitBritain’s Chairman, Nick de Bois CBE, the five-day travel trade mission, taking place from 9-to-13 September, will see 36 British travel trade and industry suppliers travel to Australia to meet with buyers and travel agents from across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

During the mission, one-to-one business meetings are set to take place, giving Australian travel buyers the chance to connect with the British suppliers, learn about the latest products and innovations on offer and explore new business opportunities.

Australian travel agents will also have the chance to connect with the British delegates during dedicated agent training sessions and networking events in the evening, equipping them with strong product knowledge to meet the increasing demand and convert it into bookings.

The delegation of British suppliers, many of whom are visiting Australia for the first time, represent a wide array of sectors, including hotels, visitor attractions, destination management companies, tour operators, and sightseeing operators. From the bustling streets of London to the picturesque landscapes of Scotland, these suppliers span the length and breadth of the nations and regions, showcasing the best of what Britain has to offer.

VisitBritain will also be updating mission participants on its upcoming ‘Starring GREAT Britain’ campaign, rolling out across its major inbound markets from early 2025 including in Australia. The campaign is harnessing the powerful draw of screen tourism to inspire more visitors to choose Britain, discover more and stay longer, driving visitor spending into local destinations. Latest research by VisitBritain showed 86% of Australians who are keen to visit the UK are interested in visiting film and TV locations during their trip.

VisitBritain’s latest estimates show Australians are forecast to spend a record £1.7 billion on their trips across the UK this year. The number of Australian visits to the UK has also been reaching historic highs. There were a record 1.2 million visits from Australia to the UK in 2023, up 10% on 2019.
