A Qantas flight from Townsville to Brisbane (Flight QF1871) has been diverted to Rockhampton after a potential issue onboard.

The aircraft descended below 10,000 feet not long after an emergency signal was sent from the aircraft to air traffic controllers.

A Qantas spokesperson told Traveltalk that the Brisbane to Townsville flight was safely diverted to Rockhampton on Tuesday morning following a depressurisation issue.

“The flight landed normally and we’ll get passengers on their way to Brisbane on other flights this morning.

“We understand this would have been an unsettling experience for our customers and want to thank them for their patience and understanding,” the spokesperson said.
