Inside Travel Group, the cultural adventure travel specialists behind InsideJapan and InsideAsia, has announced a £20 million investment from Piper and Japan’s Cool Japan Fund. This new partnership aims to fuel the group’s expansion in Asia and reinforce its commitment to community-based and sustainable tourism.
Since Japan’s reopening in mid-2022, Inside Travel Group has seen rapid growth, with 2024 marking its most successful year to date. Revenue has hit £65 million, a 33% rise from 2023. “This new phase of growth, supported by partners who share our values, will benefit our customers, suppliers, and communities,” said co-founder Alastair Donnelly.
Inside Travel Group achieved B Corp certification in 2023, reflecting its dedication to responsible travel. The company now employs over 250 staff globally, with industry-leading client satisfaction scores (NPS 85) and trade partner scores (NPS 90). InsideJapan remains a pioneer in community-based tourism, while InsideAsia continues to expand, recently adding destinations like South Korea and Thailand, contributing to a three-fold revenue increase.
Piper’s Dan Stern praised the group’s resilience and dedication to exceptional service. Meanwhile, Cool Japan Fund’s Masaki Takayanagi highlighted the potential to create deeper cultural connections for travellers. Inside Travel Group is poised to enhance its destination offerings and strengthen its role as a leading specialist in Asia-focused travel.
