As part of its recent move to passport-free security and border controls, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expanded on facial recognition technology by introducing “Palm ID.”

It’s a brand-new retail solution that uses a person’s unique palm vein patterns to confirm identity when making any transaction.

It was developed in a partnership between the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security and the Central Bank of the UAE.

It aims to bring seamless, fast operations into the retail space.

UAE’s “Travel Without Borders” project means travellers using Dubai’s Airport will be able to pass through without the need for any documentation.

This would eliminate the need for counters and immigration officers at passport control.

The project will initially be activated with business and first-class passengers before extending to all travellers at both Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central Al Maktoum International (DWC).
