Globus family of brands (GFOB) Managing Director Asia Pacific, Gai Tyrrell, has announced her resignation after six years at the helm of the travel and tour company in Australasia.
Tyrrell’s announcement comes at the close of the year, taking effect from January 2025.
“It has been a privilege and a joy to be part of the Globus family and to lead the business in our region through the past six years of change,” Tyrrell said. “This has been a difficult decision and one I have not taken lightly, however with major projects completed, and an excellent commercial management team in place, the foundation is set for the next phase of the company growth in our region.”
GFOB President and Chief Executive Officer Scott Nisbet acknowledged Tyrrell’s contribution to the global travel company.
“We thank Gai for her energy and contributions leading GFOB through a particularly challenging era in Asia Pacific,” Scott said. “During her tenure, our profile in Asia Pacific elevated markedly, she strengthened our Australasian headquarters in Sydney and Auckland, led key commercial projects designed to better meet the needs of our partners and customers, and shepherded our operations through the tumultuous Covid Pandemic.
“We wish her the best of success with future endeavours.”
Tyrrell joined GFOB in August 2018, at the time of the global travel company’s 90th Anniversary.
She oversaw the company’s restructure in Australasia, steered regional operations through the Covid 19 pandemic era and oversaw expansion into new markets with the appointment of GFOB’s distributor in Asia to represent the company’s portfolio of products across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, and the Philippines.
