First Look At 25hour Hotel

INITIALLY A brewery, then a much-loved movie theatre, one of Sydney’s most iconic buildings is entering a new phase of its life.

The West Olympia Theatre in Paddington in Sydney is about to become the first 25hours hotel in Australia, part of the Ennismore brand.

Set to open in December 2024, the four-level hotel will boast 109 luxurious guest rooms, a rooftop bar, central courtyard, eclectic restaurants and cafes, live music facilities, a wellness offering and ground floor retail.

The site started off as Marshall’s Paddington Brewery before being replaced by West’s Olympic Pictures until 1911 – a destination for movie lovers for nearly 50 years.

In the 90’s it was home to the Grand Pacific Blue Room, one of Sydney’s hottest nightclubs.

The building will undergo adaptive re-use works that involves restoring and integrating the West’s Olympia Theatre’s iconic façade into the new upscale boutique hotel that will honour its past use under the creative direction of award-winning architect Tonkin Zulaikha Greer, an expert in heritage projects.

City Debut for Boutique Brand

A NEW colour has appeared on Sydney’s hotel landscape – and that colour is indigo.

Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point marks the debut of the global boutique brand in the Harbour City. It is located behind the famous neon Coca-Cola sign in Kings Cross.

The opening follows the August unveiling of Hotel Indigo Melbourne on Flinders and Hotel Indigo Brisbane City Centre late last year.

The launch of the 105-room Sydney hotel marks a new chapter in the property’s history thanks to Pro-invest Group’s multi-million-dollar refurbishment.

Guests arrive in a theatrical lobby where a specially curated art collection sets the tone – from NFT dance projections that come alive at night to striking photographic portraits of famous and up-and-coming performance artists that have graced local stages.

Views of Sydney Harbour and the city, or distinct neon lit streetscapes provide the outlook from creatively furnished rooms, some offering private outdoor terraces and balconies.

Renowned chef Luke Mangan will oversee The X Café, a bijoux-sized early morning to late afternoon café in the lobby serving day-break lattes to lunch time bites every day to guests and locals.

“Our multi-million-dollar refurbishment has reimagined this property, introducing Hotel Indigo’s creative spirit to Sydney for the first time and adding to the incredible re-energisation taking place in this famous part of the city,” said Jan Smits, CEO, Asia Pacific of Pro-invest Group.

“We look forward to sharing Hotel Indigo Sydney Potts Point with curious travellers seeking a new style of hotel where they can stay and play.”

Pro-invest Group has a total of 32 hotels open and in the pipeline across Australia and New Zealand.
