Fiji Airways and Canberra Airport are proud to celebrate the first year of connecting Canberra directly with Nadi, Fiji. Since the route’s inception on July 21, 2023, approximately 22,500 passengers have travelled between the two destinations, underscoring the route’s success and significance. This anniversary also marks one year since the resumption of international flights from Australia’s capital after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on the anniversary, Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said “Over the past year, Fiji Airways’ direct service from Nadi to Canberra has experienced strong demand, with the popularity of onward bookings highlighting Canberra’s confidence in our award-winning service. Australia remains our key source market and the performance of the Canberra-Nadi route has assisted Fiji Airways in achieving record growth for 2023. We are grateful for the ongoing support from Canberra Airport and are thrilled to continue to connect Canberra’s residents to the pristine shores of Fiji and our growing network of destinations.”

Michael Thomson, Head of Aviation at Canberra Airport, added “We’re thrilled to celebrate Fiji Airways’ first anniversary connecting Canberra and Nadi, strengthening travel options, and fostering stronger ties between our regions. This milestone reflects our shared commitment to providing seamless, high-quality travel experiences for all. We all know Fiji as a fantastic holiday destination, and travellers are also taking advantage of the fast connections from Fiji to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Vancouver. Fiji Airways offers this fantastic service, and we thank them for their ongoing support and partnership.”

The Canberra-Nadi route not only offers direct access to Fiji’s beautiful landscapes and rich culture but also provides convenient onward connections to North America, other South Pacific destinations, and beyond.

Fiji Airways initially operated two flights per week on this route for the first three months, increasing to three flights per week in response to strong demand. While there are no immediate plans to further increase the frequency, Fiji Airways remains committed to evaluating and adapting its services to meet passenger needs.
