Air New Zealand is looking at ways to enhance its frequent flyer experience, and one option on the table is the ability to check your bags in at home and have them picked up by the airline, according to Brook Sabin at Stuff Travel.

Another suggestion is a potential Elite Lounge at Auckland Airport, a move that would be welcomed by some who have complained that the airline’s lounges have become too full in recent years.

According to the report, a secret project has been underway at Air New Zealand over the past two years to improve its Airpoints program.

Stuff Travel obtained a survey which had been sent to its most elite travellers asking for feedback.

One option listed is the ability to “choose a pick-up slot at a time that’s convenient for you up to 24 hours before your flight, and we’ll collect from your home, hotel or office and check it in for you.”

Another potential offering was free or early access to features such as Skynest, the airline’s new on-board sleeping areas.

Other options include being able to change to an earlier flight home free of charge as well as free regional airport parking.

It’s reported any potential changes could be announced later this year.
