On International Day of People with Disabilities (3 December), Travel Without Limits has announced the winner of their inaugural Best Accessible Bathroom Awards.

“The UnleashedX accessible room at Lake Macquarie Manor offers exceptional features and facilities for visitors with disabilities,” says Julie Jones (Executive Editor, Travel Without Limits). “So much thought has been put into the design, and making the most of the available space. It’s a truly commendable achievement in providing accessible bathroom facilities, going above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.”

The judges cited in their decision the height-adjustable basin, the provision of mobility and safety equipment (including commode and support bars), and the flooring surface which is “a pleasure to roll on”.

Darren Lomman, founder of UnleashedX, says: “We’ve put a lot of intentional thought into our bathroom (and the full property and activities) accessibility, so we are delighted to have been selected by Travel Without Limits for this honour.”

“A big thank you to our guests who have stayed with us and provided us with their feedback and ideas, which has further enabled us to tweak and improve our accessibility.”

“We love receiving feedback and implementing ideas where possible, so we can continuously improve and look forward to welcoming more guests from the wonderful Travel Without Limits community.”

As winners of the Best Accessible Bathroom Awards, Lake Macquarie Manor will receive one years’ free advertising in Travel Without Limits, a $1,000 gift card from Bunnings Trade, and–of course–a golden toilet trophy.
