Jetstar flight JQ34 from Bali to Melbourne with 200 people on board was forced to turn back to Denpasar on Monday night after a female passenger attempted to open the plane door an hour into the journey.
The woman tried to pull the door lever down mid-flight, which triggered an alert to the crew, who were able to intervene and restrain the passenger, according to 7 News.
“We had an aircraft return to Denpasar last night after a disruptive passenger attempted to open one of the aircraft doors and was abusive to our crew,” a Jetstar statement reads.
“The safety and welfare of our customers and crew is top priority and we thank them for the way they responded to the situation.
“This sort of unacceptable behaviour will never be tolerated on our flights.”
Reality TV star Brooke Jowett was on the flight and told media outlets the woman allegedly wanted to move to a better seat that would recline.
The incident came just a day after an ugly clash between two male passengers on another Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Bali. Passengers and crew had to separate the two men after they got into a heated argument.
One of the men is believed to have been intoxicated, leading to calls for passengers to be breathalysed before boarding.
