The contribution will support the immediate needs of children and families affected by the disaster.
More than 2,000 people are now confirmed dead following Friday’s 7.7 magnitude earthquake which hit the country and neighbouring regions.
Relief efforts are being hampered by the massive damage caused to infrastructure, with the United Nations warning of hunger and disease outbreaks.
UNICEF teams are on the ground, delivering life-saving supplies, including emergency health kits, clean water solutions, hygiene essentials, medical supplies and temporary shelters.
“We have been working in Myanmar for some time, supporting initiatives like the construction of freshwater wells in local villages,” said David Cox, CEO of APT Travel Group.
“When disaster strikes, especially in a region already facing political and humanitarian challenges, it’s vital to step up. We are proud to contribute $10,000 to UNICEF’s efforts to provide immediate relief to those who need it most.”
UNICEF’s response also focuses on the protection and reunification of children separated from their families due to the earthquake. The funds will directly support these ongoing operations and the essential services provided by UNICEF to save lives and offer hope during the crisis.
