The airline is offering one-way sale fares to Port Vila from just $179^ at jetstar.com.

The low-cost carrier began operating direct flights from Sydney to Vanuatu on December 12 last year and flew just three services prior to the earthquake.

Following a temporary suspension of operations for nine days, the airline currently has three return services a week, offering more than 1,000 seats on the route.

Ted Knight, Jetstar’s Head of Network, Fleet Strategy and Planning, said the airline’s records indicate that Vanuatu’s tourism recovery is underway.

“Our booking data shows that interest in Vanuatu is returning as more Australian travellers select this Pacific Island paradise for their next escape,” he said.

Adela Issachar Aru, Vanuatu Tourism Office CEO, said the destination was ready to welcome back Australians.

“Vanuatu is open, welcoming visitors and seeing strong momentum in bookings for this year and beyond.

“While last year’s earthquake caused temporary disruptions, our tourism industry has bounced back and operators are reporting that consumer interest and confidence has returned.

“Our beautiful seafront walkway has reopened this week and the iconic Mama’s Markets are returning to their Port Vila harbour location. This is a major milestone. Port Vila has made amazing progress in just three months.

“The majority of our tourism operators are fully operational and all popular tours, restaurants and accommodations are ready to deliver an unforgettable experience.”
