An Air India flight flying from Chicago to Delhi was forced to return to the United States last week after all but one of its toilets became clogged and unusable.

Videos and photos on social media tell the story of a horrific scene onboard as passengers struggled with the situation.

It’s reported that Flight AI126 was in the air for 10 hours before returning to Chicago.

The incident left around 300 passengers with access to only a single functioning toilet in the business class section, as reported by The New York Post.

The flight was operated by a Boeing 777-337 ER, which is typically equipped with 10 lavatories, including two designated for first-class travellers. The aircraft accommodates over 340 passengers across first, business, and economy classes.

“Upon landing in Chicago, all passengers and crew disembarked normally and were provided with accommodation to minimise inconvenience. Alternative arrangements are being made to fly the passengers to their destination,” an Air India spokesperson told media.
