Former ABC newsreader Juanita Phillips, a familiar face to millions of Australians, is now leading a new luxury travel venture exclusively for women. The high-end travel experiences, launching this month, will see Phillips guiding groups through Peru and Chile in August, followed by adventures in Southern Africa and India.
Before becoming a world-renowned journalist, Phillips travelled extensively, and now she brings her inquisitive nature and deep travel expertise to these curated journeys. The trips, designed for women aged 40 to 60, focus on history, culture, fun, and food. Groups will be limited to 16 participants, accompanied by two dedicated travel escorts and expert local guides.
These bespoke programs, jointly developed by Phillips and Luxury Touring by Revelry (LTR), cater to the growing demand for women-only travel. They feature top-tier accommodation, including Peru’s Belmond Hotels, South Africa’s Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge, and New Delhi’s Imperial Palace Hotel. The itineraries promise immersive cultural exchanges, such as visiting a traditional Peruvian village, enjoying sunset wildlife viewing in Zambia, and participating in saree evenings with local Indian women.
“There’s a big emphasis on cultural exchange, sustainable and responsible tourism, benefiting local communities and preserving traditions,” said Phillips, who anchored ABC news for 21 years.
“This, coupled with the promise of safety, comfort, convenience, and exceptional service, is what many women like me, who’ve done the hard yards with careers and family, are now seeking for their ‘me time’ travel needs.
“Something magical happens when a group of women travel on a luxurious voyage of discovery. It’s a different energy—sharing stories, making memories, and forging relationships that endure.
“Often that can mean stepping outside your comfort zone in a supportive environment, making the trip transformative and fostering a real sense of independence, empowerment, and personal growth.”
Since leaving television news in 2023, Phillips has focused on reconnecting with family and friends, travelling, and prioritising her health and fitness. “It’s a wonderful time of life, and I love having the time and freedom to enjoy all the things that tend to be neglected during the hectic years of working and raising a family.”
