One of the most highly anticipated famil programs has kicked off in South Africa with the start of Mega Lekker 2025.
Following a hugely successful event last year, South African Tourism has again invited some 100 travel agents, wholesalers and selected media to spend 10 days touring the country.
The purpose of Mega Lekker is to showcase the diversity of the country and to give agents first hand experience of what their guests can expect, enabling them to better sell the destination.
Agents from across Australia are on the famil visiting Johannesburg, Cape Town and other destinations while sampling the local culture, cuisine, accommodation and activities. Game parks feature on most of the itineraries, with participants hoping to catch a glimpse of the famed Big Five.
“Roadshows and trade evenings are great but what better way to learn about a destination than to get “boots on the ground” and discover the destination first hand,” claim organisers.
The agents have been split into nine different groups, each given a different animal name to identify them.
Groups with names such as cheetahs, rhinos and honey badgers will eventually come together at Sun City for a two-day ‘Lekker-Con’ in Sun City where they will present a short video on their experiences over the course of the Mega Lekker experience.
