Finalists for the Most Outstanding Travel Journalist Award have been announced as part of the 2024 National Travel Industry Awards (NTIA). The Finalists, chosen from a competitive pool of submissions, are:

  • Carrie Hutchinson
  • Jessica Lockhart
  • Kerry van der Jagt
  • Michael McHugh
  • Stephen Scourfield

Each Finalist submitted three applicable articles for review by an independent panel. These articles were judged on five criteria:

  1. Overall impact: How engaging, thought-provoking and informative is the story? Does it bring about change?
  2. Research: Does the article contain valuable tips, insights and advice for the reader?
  3. Tourism promotion: Does it inspire the reader to travel?
  4. Support for the travel profession: Does the story promote the use of ATAS-accredited travel businesses and professionals?
  5. Industry advancement: Does the article contribute to the conversation on industry issues or opportunities?
