From the moment you approach the Fairmont Banff Springs, you’re struck by the sheer grandeur of its architecture. Its towering spires and elegant stone façade evoke the feeling of arriving at a medieval castle, and this sense of history and timelessness extends into every corner of the property.

The lobby, with its opulent décor, plush furnishings, and warm ambience, makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a different era. The staff are attentive and efficient, handling everything with ease and ensuring that every guest feels like royalty.

The rooms at the Fairmont Banff Springs are a blend of old-world charm and modern comforts. My room was not large with a limited view but the bed, draped in high-thread-count linens, was supremely comfortable, while the room’s amenities, including a Nespresso machine and plush bathrobes, added a touch of luxury. The bathroom, though not overly spacious, was well-appointed with Le Labo toiletries and a deep soaking tub.

A wealth of dining options are offered to suit every palate. Some highlights include the 1888 Chop House, offering fine dining that serves up expertly prepared Alberta beef and fresh seafood and the Waldhaus Restaurant, a Bavarian-style cottage in the woods offering alpine cuisine including classic fondue and schnitzel.

For breakfast, the Bow Valley Grill offers a generous spread with everything from freshly baked pastries to local game sausages and made-to-order omelettes. Enjoying breakfast while gazing out at the snow-capped peaks is a delight that sets a positive tone for the day.

The Fairmont Banff Springs is not just a hotel but a full resort. One of the standout aspects is the vast array of activities on offer. From guided hikes and cycling to world-class golfing and the luxurious Willow Stream Spa.

The hotel is family friendly with a guide of all scheduled activities provided daily.
The hotel is also pet friendly, and if you can’t bring your own dog, they even offer their own canine ambassador Lily who can accompany guests walks.

The indoor saltwater swimming pool is large, providing plenty of space for laps as well as leisure swimming. The outdoor pool is heated to spa level temperatures making it extremely relaxing in the cold outdoor air.

The Fairmont also offers shuttle services to the nearby Banff Gondola and ski slopes during the winter months.

I was lucky enough to see the Northern Lights during my visit

The Fairmont Banff Springs does feel like a special destination. It’s an experience that immerses you in the beauty and history of the Canadian Rockies. I imagine it is particularly fun to stay during the Christmas festive season.

While a stay here certainly comes at a premium, the Fairmont Banff Springs delivers on its promise of exceptional service, luxurious amenities, and unforgettable experiences. A five-star experience through and through.
