As Travel Agent Day Australia (or, magically called TADA) kicks off in Melbourne, Traveltalk had a quick word with its co-founder Priscila Mills about the excitement of the day ahead, and why the event was organised in the first place.

What TADA is about?

TADA is really all about celebrating travel agents and bringing people together. We’ve created this space for everyone to connect, network, and get inspired. For us, it’s a community-driven event. It’s not just about the business side of things but about fostering real relationships and lifting each other up in the industry.

What do you hope to achieve?

Honestly, we want people to leave feeling excited and with new ideas they can actually use. Whether it’s something from a panel discussion or a conversation they had in the hallway, we want them to walk away with practical insights. Our goal is for everyone to feel a renewed spark, ready to tackle their work with fresh energy.

Tell us about the topics being discussed on today’s panels

When we were thinking about the panels, we wanted to focus on skills and insights that could really make a travel agent’s life easier. It’s not just about theory—it’s about giving people tools they can implement right away. We chose topics that we believe are relevant right now and can make a real impact in their day-to-day work.

What do you know about who is attending TADA in 2024?

We’ve got an incredible turnout! Over 250 attendees, including a mix of travel agents, home-based agents, and business owners from various consortia groups, are all coming together to celebrate the travel agents. It’s amazing to see people from so many different backgrounds, all sharing that same passion for travel. Whether they’re seasoned pros or newer to the industry, the energy and excitement in the room is going to be something special!

How are you feeling seeing this event finally live in front of your eyes?

Wow, I can’t even put into words how much work has gone into this. It’s been months of planning, brainstorming, and tweaking, but to see it all come together feels truly magical. As we kick things off, it’s like watching an idea come to life.
