To celebrate ten years of reshaping how Kiwis move, shop and earn in Aotearoa, Uber has unveiled a world first experience in Queenstown.
Bringing together the best of rides and eats in the iconic Southern Alps, Uber One members will be able to press a button to summon a ride in a snowcat to ski Mount Cardrona’s backcountry and also savour the best in local cuisine at the highest altitude fine dining lunch in the country.
Uber New Zealand Managing Director, Emma Foley said, “Over the last ten years, almost half of the country’s population have relied on Uber to earn, go from A to B, or have their meals and groceries delivered to their doorsteps. We’re delighted to have helped everyone get around easily, and to have contributed to the livelihoods of thousands more. During this special milestone, we want to show our appreciation to the people of Aotearoa by providing a uniquely Kiwi experience that hasn’t been done anywhere else in the world.”
Securing a spot for the exclusive limited time only snowcat and dining experience will be possible through the Uber Eats app in New Zealand by entering your address as Queenstown and searching “Uber One Exclusive Ski Experience”. Reservations will open today at midday local time for a limited period and pending weather conditions.
Uber Eats New Zealand, General Manager, Andy Bowie said, “We are very grateful for all the support we’ve received in New Zealand and wanted to celebrate that partnership in style. The last decade would not have been possible without all the drivers, delivery people, restaurant owners and merchants who’ve trusted our technology to help them earn. We also feel incredibly thankful to Kiwi riders and eaters for sharing this journey with us. Our team is privileged to be able to support you as you go anywhere, and get almost anything, every day. Here’s to another 10 years and even more innovations along the road – starting with this world first activation in Aotearoa.”
The bookable experiences are recommended for intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders and will be exclusive to 20 guests per day for three consecutive weekends including – Saturday August 24, Saturday August 31 and Friday September 6.
The local team at Soho Basin has been instrumental in curating the experience, including making their expert guides available to chart fresh off-piste tracks and to create a special menu for Uber One members.
Co-Owner of Soho Basin, Zak Darby said, “We congratulate Uber on 10 years of remarkable innovation and are delighted to celebrate with them through the exclusive Soho Basin experience. This event not only marks a milestone but also unveils New Zealand’s best-kept secret. Our snowcat backcountry ski adventure, combined with award-winning Amisfield alpine dining, highlights our shared commitment to extraordinary experiences in breathtaking settings. This collaboration exemplifies the shared dedication of both companies to delivering unparalleled convenience and excitement in unique environments.”
