With multi-generational travel a soaring trend amongst Aussies, new research from Club Med has revealed it’s officially the new way to holiday with almost half (43%) of Aussies planning on taking a multi-generational holiday in the next 12 months.
The new research conducted by the leading all-inclusive holiday brand revealed that 1 in 4 (28%) Aussies prefer to travel as part of a multi-generational holiday group than with their immediate family with two thirds (70%) favouring the quality time that is spent together.
The research comes as Club Med debuts a first-of-its-kind offering that makes booking a holiday with Club Med even better for clients who want to travel with large family and friend group.
Available from 24 July, Generational Getaways by Club Med will unlock a range of benefits for groups of 8 or more including priority room location in the resort*, reserved tables for dinner* and a group photoshoot*.
With the recent research also revealing more than a third (35%) of Aussies choose to holiday as part of a multi-generational group due to the cost benefits, groups of 20 or more will receive a discount* on their booking. 1 in 4 (27%) Aussies cite budget as the most important factor when planning a multi-generational holiday.
Despite cost-of-living pressures, almost half (44%) of Aussies said the cost of their multi-generational holiday is split evenly between each adult traveller within the group.
Michelle Davies, General Manager for Club Med Pacific highlighted the launch of Generational Getaways by Club Med as a response to the emerging multi-generational travel trend.
“The organic growth we are seeing for multi-generational bookings is significant so the introduction of a dedicated offering for large family and friend groups at Club Med was a clear step forward,” said Davies. “Multi-generational bookings represent 76% of our group bookings for the first half of 2025, an increase of 48% from the second half of this year.
“We know Aussies are longing for that connection with their loved ones more than ever before and are opting for multi-generational and group holidays to meet this desire. Our all-inclusive offering at Club Med provides a hassle-free experience with something for everyone, allowing our guests to spend more time creating special memories than planning an itinerary that pleases everyone. With Generational Getaways by Club Med, our personalised approach allows for that hassle-free experience to be elevated.”
A third (38%) of Aussies admitted each person having different interests is their biggest frustration when booking a multi-generational holiday with 1 in 4 (27%) Aussies preferring a destination with an all-inclusive offering to combat this challenge.
Club Med’s all-inclusive offering of premium accommodation, all day gourmet dining, an open bar, land and water activities and sports, entertainment plus a range of Kids Clubs for all ages, provides the perfect holiday solution for clients looking to travel with a large family and friend group without any hidden costs.
