Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge on the Mitchell Plateau in Western Australia offers a luxury outback experience with a swimming deck, gourmet dining and new accommodations.

The lodge now features 24 spacious and thoughtfully designed ensuite tented cabins, each equipped with timber floor showers, comfortable beds and private decks that provide landscape views.

The extensive refurbishment included significant infrastructure upgrades, such as the addition of brand-new cabins and a swimming platform.

A newly upgraded private waterhole allows guests to cool off with a swim after a fulfilling day exploring the Mitchell Plateau. The all-new timber swimming platform and deck provide easy access to the palm-fringed oasis.

Rob McGeary, co-owner of APT, visited the lodge recently and couldn’t be more enthusiastic about the improvements.

“Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge has truly exceeded my expectations. The happiness and satisfaction of our guests were evident, as I encountered several tour groups, all having an absolutely wonderful time.

“The food was amazing – five-star city quality in an outback bush setting. The chefs went to great lengths to use only high-quality ingredients, making every meal a delight.”

In addition to front-of-house enhancements, significant investments in back-of-house infrastructure have been made.

“We’ve upgraded the electrical systems at Mitchell Falls, ensuring reliable and environmentally sensitive power for years to come,” added McGeary.

“This includes a massive solar array and commercial-grade battery systems, underscoring our commitment to sustainability.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved. The feedback from guests has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our guides, the new lodges and the overall experience. It’s a testament to the passion and hard work of everyone involved.”

Another exciting addition to the lodge is Starlink Wi-Fi, keeping guests connected even in one of the most remote regions of the Kimberley.

The upgrades align with the standards set at Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge, renovated in 2021, and Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge, creating a network of three exceptional lodges in the Kimberley, exclusive to APT.

“The Kimberley is a passion project for our family. We’ve been dedicated to offering this extraordinary destination to our guests for nearly 30 years and I’m confident we provide the best lodges in the Kimberley.”
