One lucky winner definitely didn’t go home with the blues after winning a trip to America at a musical event hosted by Memphis Tourism.

The revered Hi Rhythm Section, accompanied by renowned Memphis talents including Boo Mitchell, Lina Beach and Jerome Chism, were invited to perform at the event by the tourism board, with the support of United Airlines and Cosmos.

Flight Centre’s Penny Baker was the biggest winner on the night, bagging a trip to Memphis with flights on United and three-nights’ accommodation for two staying at the Peabody Memphis Hotel, as well as attraction passes and meals in the U.S. city.

Staged at the Oxford Art Factory in Sydney, the concert gave attendees a small taste of the blues, soul and rock’n’roll music that Memphis is famous for.

The audience of travel trade, industry and media got to witness what makes this group considered to be the best musicians Memphis has ever produced before they headed to the Blues on Broadbeach festival, taking place this weekend.

“We’re ecstatic with the great turnout of the travel industry at last night’s event and excited to have given people a glimpse into what Memphis’ music industry has to offer,” said Chris Ingram, Director of Memphis Tourism Australia & New Zealand.

“We simply couldn’t present such a significant travel trade initiative without the support from our valued partners United Airlines and Cosmos.”
