Brisbane Airport’s 31st direct international destination will take travellers to one of the planet’s smallest and most remote locations. From 21 May, Nauru Airlines will operate a non-stop weekly service between Brisbane and Palau for the first time.
Palau is a Pacific Island nation lying north of Papua New Guina and east of the Philippines made up of over 300 islands and is part of the region of Micronesia. It is consistently ranked as one of the world’s best diving destinations, with its breathtaking underwater landscapes, and lush greenery, pristine beaches, and rich cultural heritage.
“This new direct service not only enhances Brisbane Airport’s role as Australia’s premier gateway to the Pacific but also invites adventurers to embark on a seamless journey to one of the region’s most inviting destinations. It’s now a very easy place to add to your bucket list,” according to Brisbane Airport CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaff.
Brisbane Airport is Australia’s gateway to the Pacific, now with 14 destinations in the region, more than any other airport.
Nauru Airlines will operate the six-hour flight using a Boeing 737, departing Brisbane on Tuesdays at 11.30pm for Palau International Airport (ROR), and arriving back in Brisbane on Thursdays at 5.30am, creating easy connections for travelers from across BNE’s domestic and international network.
The service is named the Palau Paradise Express and will help create new opportunities for regional tourism and trade.
“We are delighted to introduce a direct service from Brisbane straight to Palau, opening new opportunities for tourism development and air freight from Australia and New Zealand via the Brisbane gateway,” said Brett Gebers, Chief Executive Officer, Nauru Airlines.
“This is a key addition to our broader Micronesian network and we know direct air access from Brisbane will be well received by travellers and the travel industry.”
Launch fares start from $999 return.
The link will operate with support from the Australian Government under its Australia-Pacific Partnerships for Aviation Program (P4A). This year Australia and Palau celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
