Vietjet’s fantastic anniversary sale coincides with the airline’s continued success and market leadership, the airline says. – despite only entering Australia in April 2023 with its inaugural routes to Sydney and Melbourne via Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietjet’s entry to the market became instrumental in increasing the seat capacity between Vietnam and Australia by over 60% (between January 2023 to March 2024) with Vietjet dominating the Australian market with 48% seat capacity, ahead of Vietnam Airlines (40%) and Jetstar Airways (12%).
Vietjet’s inaugural routes were immediately followed by its Brisbane-Ho Chi Minh City route in June 2023, and Perth and Adelaide routes to Ho Chi Minh City in November 2023. Its latest route, Hanoi-Melbourne, was just announced in March 2024 – making it the largest Vietnamese airline operator in Australia. In total, Vietjet currently has an impressive 62 return flights in Australia per week – less than a year after entering the market.
Vietjet’s recent introduction of its Hanoi-Melbourne flight reflects its outstanding 2023 business performance, which saw the airline complete 133,000 flights with 25.3 million passengers onboard (excluding Vietjet Thailand) – of whom more than 7.6 million were on international flights.
In 2023 alone, Vietjet continued to grow its flight network with 33 new international and domestic routes, including the five new routes in Australia (Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney), bringing the total number of routes to 125, including 80 international and 45 domestic routes.
In 2024, the company aims to continue solidifying its position as one of the most resilient and rapidly growing airlines in the global aviation industry.
