A $10MILLION initiative to help First Nations tourism businesses across Australia has just been launched.

The program is being funded by the government and will give relevant businesses access to free, one-on-one mentoring services from experienced tourism industry professionals.

The First Nations Tourism Mentoring Program (FNTMP) is being delivered by PwC’s Indigenous Consulting (PIC), in partnership with Intrepid Travel, and Welcome to Country, a social enterprise working to elevate First Nations retail and tourism.

Expressions of Interest are now open to identify place-based mentors to work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tourism businesses across Australia.

Organisations and sole traders interested in becoming mentors are encouraged to submit an application via the website fntmp.com.au. Applications will close on April 11.

“It is great to see continued commitment to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Tourism,” said Kate Healy, PIC Partner, who is leading the administration of the program.

“We are very excited to work with the sector and administer this program and look forward to partnering with Welcome to Country and Intrepid Travel.”

“This innovative mentoring program will provide our communities with what they need on their terms,” said Desmond Campbell, Chief Executive Officer, Welcome to Country.

“We will go beyond our existing commitment to First Nations experiences in our trips by also working with emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses,” said Brett Mitchell, Managing Director ANZ, Intrepid Travel.
