VIKING WILL set sail with 15 new itineraries in 2023, including voyages to new ports of call in Iceland, eastern Europe and North America’s Great Lakes.
Additionally, Viking will welcome a new ship to its fleet of identical 930-guest ocean ships, the Viking Saturn, and will expand its Egypt fleet with a new ship for the Nile River.
In 2023, Viking will operate two new itineraries exploring Europe’s rivers, the 15-day Lyon, Provence & the Rhineland’, and the 17-day Capitals of Eastern Europe’.
This last itinerary will visit six new ports of call for the company, including Mohács and Ilok in Hungary, Novi Sad and Donji Milanovac in Serbia, Pleven in Bulgaria and Constan?a in Romania.
In addition, Viking will expand its offerings on the Nile River with a new state-of-the-art vessel, the Viking Aton, an identical sister ship to the Viking Osiris which joined the company’s fleet in 2022.
New 2023 river itineraries include:
Lyon, Provence & the Rhineland’ (Avignon Amsterdam). This 15-day itinerary connects the Rhône and Rhine rivers into one seamless journey between Avignon and Amsterdam.
Guests will discover the grand cathedrals, historic cities and the spectacular scenery of the Middle Rhine and enjoy French gastronomy and wine country.
Capitals of Eastern Europe’ (Vienna Bucharest). On this 17-day voyage, guests will travel along the Danube River between Vienna and Bucharest.
In addition to visiting iconic cities such as Budapest, the Paris of the East’, and Vienna, the City of Waltzes’, guests will be captivated by lesser-known gems across the Balkans in Hungary, Serbia, Croatia and Bulgaria.
New Ocean Offerings
Following the recent naming of the company’s newest ocean ship, the Viking Neptune, Viking will welcome another new ship, the Viking Saturn, to the company’s award-winning fleet of identical ocean ships in the spring.
In addition, the company will operate seven new ocean itineraries and visit new ports of call in Iceland: Longyearbyen, Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
New 2023 ocean itineraries include:
Australia, New Zealand & Indonesia’ (Auckland Bali). Sailing between Auckland and Bali, guests on this new 31-day grand voyage will explore the coastal cities and islands of Australia and New Zealand.
They will also get to experience the nature and culture of the Indonesian archipelago, with visits to Komodo National Park and Lombok’s artisan villages.
Iceland & Norway’s Arctic Explorer’ (Bergen Reykjavik). On this 15-day journey, guests will discover life in the far north during a voyage across the Arctic Circle and along the distant shores of Norway and Iceland.
Visit Honningvåg’s remote North Cape and enjoy an overnight stay in Longyearbyen, capital of the Svalbard archipelago.
Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada’ (Reykjavik New York City). This 15-day itinerary spans Iceland, Greenland and the Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Nova Scotia.
Sailing between New York City and Reykjavik, guests will admire the volcanic landscape of the Westman Islands and stroll the streets of picturesque towns like Seydisfjördur and Akureyri.
Greenland, Iceland, Norway & Beyond’ (Bergen New York City). Guests who choose to extend their voyage can combine the Iceland & Norway’s Arctic Explorer’ and Iconic Iceland, Greenland & Canada’ itineraries for an epic 29-day voyage between Bergen and New York City.
British Isles & Iceland Explorer’ (Reykjavik London). On this 27-day voyage from Reykjavik to London, guests will explore the majestic shores of Iceland, witness the breathtaking volcanic landscapes of the Faroe Islands, visit Norway’s thriving coastal towns, discover the legendary Scottish Highlands and Celtic customs of Ireland, and explore iconic locales in England including Liverpool and London.
Grand Fjords & Iconic Viking Shores’ (New York City Amsterdam). On this 29-day itinerary, which sails between Amsterdam and New York City, guests will explore the distant shores of Norway, Iceland, Greenland and Canada, while discovering the history of Viking exploration in the New World.
Atlantic Ocean Passage’ (Barcelona Ft. Lauderdale). Sailing between Ft. Lauderdale and Barcelona, this new 14-day itinerary will immerse guests in both the New World and the Old while sailing the Mediterranean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
New Expedition Offerings
Sailing on the company’s two identical expedition ships, the Viking Octantis and the Viking Polaris, Viking will operate six new expedition voyages in 2023.
Highlights include three new Longitudinal World Cruises’, which are epic journeys between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and one new itinerary in North America’s Great Lakes, which will visit all five Great Lakes and two new ports of call: Cleveland, Ohio; and Algoma, Wisconsin.
New 2023 expedition voyages include:
‘Great Lakes Collection’ (Toronto Duluth). This new 15-day itinerary sailing between Toronto and Duluth takes guests on an expedition across the historic waterways of all five of the majestic Great Lakes.
Guests will traverse the famous Soo Locks, study the ecosystems and wildlife of the region and experience culture-rich urban centres.
Longitudinal World Cruise I, II & III’. Guests can choose from three grand voyages between Antarctica and the Great Lakes in 2023, the 65-day Longitudinal World Cruise I from Buenos Aires to Milwaukee, the 71-day Longitudinal World Cruise II from Duluth to Ushuaia, or the 70-day Longitudinal World Cruise III from Milwaukee to Ushuaia.
On all three itineraries, guests will experience the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Antarctic Peninsula, transit engineering marvels such as the Panama Canal, St. Lawrence Seaway and the Soo Locks, and explore the natural beauty of the Great Lakes.
Antarctica & South Georgia Island’ (Buenos Aires Ushuaia). Sailing from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia, guests on this 19-day journey will explore the Falkland Islands, renowned for their rugged coves and white-sand beaches, call at South Georgia, one of the least visited places on Earth, and witness the pristine beauty of Antarctica.
Canada & the Atlantic Coastline’ (Toronto Ft. Lauderdale). This new 16-day itinerary sailing between Toronto and Ft. Lauderdale takes guests along the legendary St. Lawrence Seaway and the Atlantic coast of the United States, exploring its mix of scenic landscapes and storied cities.
