Singapore Airlines (SIA) today opened the new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport, delivering additional space, enhanced facilities, and a range of new dining options for even more customers.
Officially opened by His Excellency Mr Anil Kumar Nayar, Singapore’s High Commissioner to Australia on Monday afternoon, the new lounge space features SIA’s Home Away from Home design concept used across the Airline’s SilverKris Lounges worldwide, and is twice the size of the previous lounge.
SIA Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Mr Louis Arul, said the lounge opening coincides with SIA’s resumption of four daily flights to Perth, and is testament to Perth’s global connectivity and Western Australia’s dynamic economy.
“The opening of the new SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport, together with the resumption of four daily flights from Perth to Singapore, is a significant milestone in our almost 60-year history in Perth, during which our operations have grown in tandem with the city,” Mr Arul said.
“We are pleased to have been a steady contributor to Perth’s global connectivity over the years. The new lounge is a significant investment to ensure the ground experience matches the premium experience in the air, and testament to our confidence in Western Australia.
“I would also like to extend a sincere thanks to our customers for their patience during the construction, and to the team at Perth Airport who have worked closely with us to bring this project to life.”
Renowned industrial design firm DP Architects was commissioned to refresh the Home Away from Home concept applied across SIA’s lounges worldwide. The design includes signature elements from SIA’s recently completed flagship SilverKris Lounge in Singapore Changi Airport, such as the batik motifs which have been subtly incorporated throughout the lounge amenities and furnishings. Guests can look forward to the familiar welcoming spaces, which cater to their differing needs and provide a sense of home.
The new SilverKris Lounge accommodates around 135 customers and is double the size of the previous lounge, which opened in December 2006.
The new lounge features a larger buffet area inclusive of a live cooking station and full-serviced bar, offering both barista coffee and selection of signature drinks, as well as a wider selection of freshly prepared food and beverages to travellers throughout the day. Shower rooms will also be available for those who wish to freshen up before their flight.
Customers will also have the option of focusing on work in one of several specially- designed productivity pods, providing them with a private and comfortable workspace before their flight, or relax in the one of the wingback chairs, both of which are extremely popular across all SIA SilverKris Lounges. In addition, travellers will find USB and charging points readily available.
The new lounge is centrally located in the International Departure terminal (T1), opposite Gate 52, and provides convenient access to all international boarding gates in the transit area.
The lounge will be open to customers travelling in Business Class or First Class Suites, PPS Club and KrisFlyer Elite Gold members, Virgin Australia Velocity Beyond, Platinum, and Gold card members departing on SIA operated flights, as well as Star Alliance Gold Members travelling on Star Alliance operated flights during lounge operating hours.
Perth travellers will welcome the return to pre-pandemic operations, with the addition of three weekly services from 31 March 2024 bringing the total to 28 flights a week between Singapore and Perth.
The additional SQ213 will depart Changi Airport at 7:15am on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, arriving in Perth the same day at 12:30pm. The additional return flight SQ226 from Perth to Singapore, will depart at 13:45pm, arriving Changi Airport at 19:10pm.
The three new services will be operated with SIA’s A350-900 medium-haul aircraft, featuring 40 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout and 263 Economy Class seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
