The Islands of Tahiti, renowned for its pristine beauty and captivating landscapes is a destination that often comes to mind for travellers looking for extraordinary and bucket list experiences for their holidays.
It is therefore not surprising that the destination has experienced an impressive increase in visitors in 2023 and a positive outlook on bookings for the first half of 2024.
Australia was one of the markets leading a significant positive increase in travellers in 2023, with a 73% increase in travellers when compared to 2022.
From the 1st of January to the 31st of December 2023, 7,718 Australians visited the destination compared to the same months in 2022 which recorded a total of 4 468 Australian travellers.
In 2023, the Australian market was the fifth largest market and covered 2.9% market share of tourist arrivals in the destination, after the USA, France, Canada and New Zealand.
Looking ahead at the first half of 2024, there are currently 976 flight bookings for arrivals in The Islands of Tahiti between January – June, which is an 8.8% increase when compared to January to June 2023.
The current market share for the first half of 2024 sits at 2.1%, with the Australian market currently the sixth largest market of tourist arrivals in the destinations, sitting behind the USA, France, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.
As these bookings cover only half the year, we anticipate a positive year-on-year increase in overall Australian visitors for 2024, and we remain optimistic about sustaining last year’s growth throughout the rest of the year.
The Islands of Tahiti offer an immersive experience like no other destination, from the welcoming smiles of the locals to vibrant coral reefs brimming with diverse and colourful marine life.
Its Polynesian culture, a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, adds a layer of authenticity to every visit, providing a genuine connection to this breathtaking paradise.
